Top 5 Christmas Tree Recycling Events Happening in EL-Okemos-Haslett

Ringing in the New Year means trying to dispose of those beautiful Christmas trees you worked so hard to decorate this holiday season. There are a few things to keep in mind when recycling a Christmas tree, especially if it's going to a farm for animals to enjoy. Trees must free off ornaments, debris, garland, tinsel, metal, nails, ropes, and hooks from ornaments. Some of the options below are also accepting wreaths and fake trees.


1.) Nancy Moore Park Drop-Off
Date: December 26, 2024-January 31, 2025
Time: Dawn to dusk
Cost: Free
Accepting: Real trees only

2.) Meridian Recycling Center Drop-Off
Date: Anytime they're open
Time: Monday and Friday from 2:00PM-5:00PM, Tuesday thru Thursday from 10:00AM-5:00PM, Saturday from 10:00AM-3:00PM
Cost: Trees up to 6 feet are $5, trees 7 feet and taller are $10, all wreaths, decorations and artificial trees with wires can be recycled for a fee of $25 per cubic yard

3.) Haslett Boy Scout Troop 97 Tree Pick Up
Date: Sunday January 5, 2025 and Sunday January 12, 2025
Time: Tree must be out at curb by 10:00AM
Cost:$15 suggested donation fee

4.) BSA Troop 164G Tree Pick Up
Date: Saturday January 4, 2025 and Saturday January 11, 2025
Time: Tree must be out at curb by 10:00AM
Cost:$15 suggested donation fee

5.) Contact your local farms!
Reach out to your local farms and ask if they would like your donated tree.  Many farms will use them as a treat for their goats and other farm animals.  Keep that in mind for pumpkin disposals as well!
