Fall is in the air! The East Lansing-Okemos-Haslett and surrounding areas have so much to offer in terms of Fall family fun. Here are some of my top picks for family fun happening this fall that you won’t want to miss. Included events are apple picking, pumpkins, and other family fun.
- Clearview Orchards- 1051 Barry Rd. Haslett, MI 48840
This orchard is family owned, growing apples and peaches. They offer U-pick and pre-picked apples beginning in early September and going through late October. They have a great farmstand where you can purchase apples, squash, honey, and eggs while supplies last. They start with McIntosh and Gala, followed by Golden Supreme, Honeycrisp, Empire, Jonathan, Red, and Golden Delicious, Jonagold, Northern Spy, Mutsu, and Ida Red apples, which ripen through the fall. They have semi-dwarf trees which allow families to easily pick their own if they choose. My family visited on opening day this week, and the apples are ahead of schedule! They are allowing U-pick for almost every apple variety.
- Barkham Creek Farms- 181 Haslett Rd. Haslett, MI 48840
This is a family owned and operated cider mill. They offer fresh pressed cider, including some of the best cider slushies you will ever try, as well as fresh donuts made daily. Barkham Creek Farms is a must visit when picking out pumpkins. They do not offer the option of picking from the field, but they have a huge selection of small, medium, and large prepicked pumpkins with wagons to make your selection. They offer a great variety of mums for sale as well. They don't typically open until the end of September, so be sure to keep an eye on their website for an opening date.
- Peacock Road Family Farm- 11854 Peacock Rd. Laingsburg, MI 48848
Peacock Road Family Farm is a magical experience from Fall through the Christmas season. Keep in mind their fall season opening date is September 28, 2024. There is a $15 per person fee on weekends with a cheaper rate if you go during the week. The big events they offer take place on weekends, though. There is so much to do at this farm. You can pick pumpkins, both U-pick and prepicked, check out large variety of farm animals, watch the pig races, and visit their shops. They also have concessions and food.
I recommend checking each of these venue's websites frequently before you visit. They are all very good about informing visitors of start dates, closures, events, and other important information. Each of these farms are incredibly family friendly and your little ones are guaranteed to have a good time!
