As rates of autism increase, so has the need to provide services to help people with autism. Children with autism can have difficulties with communication, social skills, and school readiness skills. There are many therapies available to children with autism to help improve these skills, one of which being applied behavior analysis (ABA).
ABA is an evidence-based treatment for autism and is covered by most insurance companies. ABA therapy includes individualized goals to meet the specific needs of each child. The companies that provide the ABA therapy has been growing, but they have not yet caught up with the rate of the diagnoses in these children. With the intense demand for the ABA therapy many parents have been in a long waiting list losing precious time.
A similar problem was faced by a mother of two daughters with autism. This mom co-founded the Next Gen Therapy with one of her best BCBA’s, Nicole Bell, who worked on both of her children. Next Gen’s mission is to deliver high quality ABA therapy that teaches children and their families to overcome hurdles and reach their highest potential thus improving the quality of life.
They are a home based company with an office in East Lansing, with hopes of adding center-based services to reach even more children. They are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield/Blue Care Network of Michigan, Physicians Health Plan, and limited private Medicaid, with more commercial insurances in progress. Next Gen Therapy also offers free consultation for families when their insurance does not cover ABA, this is part of their commitment to the community and children. In addition they host monthly parent support groups in Lansing to help parents connect with other parents.
